Miracle Day - January 8, 2011 by Adam Borders (Contributing Writer - Bi Social Network)

SPOILER ALERT: Reproduced from the Bi Social Network

Imagine if you will, that lying in the hospital is a member of your family—perhaps elderly, ready to pass on after a long and full life. They may be facing this transition with dignity; they may be facing it with fear. In another part of the world, a prisoner is facing the same fate, a transition from life into the mystery of death. At some point we all learn that everybody dies. Dying is a natural part of life—but what if a day went by when no one died? When loved ones in the hospital didn’t “pass on” or when a prisoner on death row is lethally injected and . . . nothing happens. What if one day stretched to two? Three? A sudden cessation of death throughout the world could only attract the attention of favorite bisexual superhero–Captain Jack Harkness. Returning to Earth to reunite with Gwen Cooper and a new Torchwood team, Captain Jack must face a new threat: Miracle Day.
Russell T. Davies, creator, writer and Producer of Torchwood; has teased the plot of the upcoming, International, return of Torchwood with the above information while at TCA Press Tour. He has also revealed that Torchwood: The New World has been renamed Torchwood: Miracle Day.

In addition to a new title, more and more developments surrounding Miracle Day have begun to surface. Mekhi Phifer (ER; Dawn of the Dead) has joined the cast as CIA agent Rex Matheson; along with Arlene Tur (Eat, Pray, Love) as surgeon Vera Juarez and Bill Pullman (Independence Day; Lost Highway) as a Murderer/Pedophile cum celebrity after his release from prison. As previously reported, original cast members John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Kai Owen are returning for Miracle Day.

Principal photography on Torchwood: Miracle Day is set to begin on January 10, 2011. While no official airdate has yet been announced, the ten part epic is expected to air in July on both BBC One and Starz simultaneously, as part of a joint production deal between both channels.
