-"Children fundamentally are entitled not to be abused. The fact that they're powerless to protect themselves is why intervention is required." Andrew Vachss
With kids, we either hide them in locked closets or throw them to the wolves in a pool and wonder why they drown. Ah, I forgot one more option-we do nothing and let them be abused. *sigh*
Read Andrew Vachss' new book, "Heart Transplant" for a true explanation of the nature, cause and solution to bullying. Vachss has consistently been a revolutionary for the abused and neglected children. His work, along with those of countless unsung supervisors, taught me how to do psychotherapy by speaking the truth about child abuse. He introduced me to the work of Dr. Bruce Perry of the Child Trauma Academy, which enriched my knowledge of the neuropsychology of abuse. Click on the title of this blog above and check out Vachss' website.

This blog is focused on American social (particularly teens, Jewish thought, Bisexual/LGBT concerns, social psychology) and political issues addressed from the standpoint of common sense, good science, positive/socially responsible faith, and tikkun olam (repairing the world). Honest criticism, caring comments, and loving rebukes are welcome. Capital letters, unnecessary vulgarity, and "flaming" are not. Enjoy!
